Fundraisers
The Village Association
Together, We Build the Village
Fundraising is how we sustain and grow our community programs, events, and initiatives at Portland Village School. Each dollar raised supports projects like the playground, wellness grants for educators, scholarships, and so much more. By participating in our fundraisers, you’re helping ensure that our children, families, and teachers thrive in a vibrant and connected community. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a big difference.
Fundraiser or Gathering? Here’s the Difference
At the Village Association, some events are fundraisers, and others are simply gatherings for connection. Some even serve as both! Here’s how they differ:
Fundraisers are events designed to raise money for a specific goal, like new playground equipment, educator grants, or scholarships for families in need.
Gatherings focus on fostering connections, building community, and celebrating the rhythms of the year.
Examples:
The Craft Fair is a fundraiser because it raises money through artisan sales, but it’s also a gathering that brings families together.
The Fun Run is primarily a fundraiser, as students collect pledges for laps run, but it’s also a joyful gathering.

How Fundraisers Work
Ever wondered what goes into putting on a successful fundraiser? Here’s the process we follow:
Identify a Need: Determine the goal for fundraising, such as new playground equipment or scholarships.
Plan the Event: Set the theme, logistics, and fundraising goals.
Build a Team: Recruit committee members and volunteers to bring the vision to life.
Promote the Event: Spread the word via flyers, social media, newsletters, and word of mouth.
Host the Event: Create a memorable experience for attendees while achieving the fundraising goal.
Celebrate Success: Share results with the community and thank everyone who participated.
